Welcome to Hale Mele Kohola, The House of the Song of the Whale!
While we were living on the east coast, two of our most favorite vacation spots were the Sugarloaf Mountains of Maryland and Ocean City. We often dreamed of living in a place where mountain and ocean lived side by side. This dream came true for us when we purchased Hale Mele Kohola in 2003.
We enjoy the slower pace of life on the Big Island and we visit whenever we can. We like to have as many comforts of home as possible when we are on holiday, and we like to think that our guests feel the same way.
There is a private beach a few streets down from our house with hiking trails along the shoreline dotted with tidal pools. There are restaurants and other sources of entertainment within half an hour's drive from the house. If you prefer to stay at home, we have books, music, and movies in our small book and media libraries.
When we look at the sweeping views of the coastline and the beautiful sunsets and the way the moon shimmers on the water; the schools of dolphins and pods of whales that swim by - all from the vantage point of our lanai, we know that we made the correct decision to buy a vacation rental here.
We hope that you will come to think of Hale Mele Kohola as your island home, just as we have.
With warmest aloha,
Nanette and Gary
