Welcome to Hale Mele Kohola, The House of the Song of the Whale.

Located in a private residential setting, Hale Mele Kohola is an elegantly furnished two bedroom, two bath home. On the lanai, lounge in unique Indonesian sling back chairs to observe the coastline view from Miloli'i to Kailua-Kona or bask in the glow of spectacular sunsets. Watch whales during season. Let balmy breezes and the sound of the surf lull you to sleep.

Throughout Hale Mele Kohola, there are hand-knotted rugs from Nepal, original artwork by local and international artists, and a one of a kind dining set made from 300-year old tree roots from Thailand. There is a small library for your reading pleasure, as well as a selection of movies and CDs.

Thirty-five miles south of the Kona airport, Hale Mele Kohola is close to many points of interest. A few streets below is Pebble Beach. Ten minutes away is secluded Ho'okena Beach. Twenty minutes will take you to The Place of Refuge (Pu'uhonua o Honaunau), an historic site also ideal for picnicking, hiking, and swimming. Snorkel nearby in the waters of Two Step.

From Hale Mele Kohola, it is a twenty-five minutes to South Point, fifty-five minutes to Na'alehu, where one can still see the monkey pod tree planted by Mark Twain; and ninety minutes to Volcano National Park. Hilo is a mere half an hour more from Volcano National Park.
